Virgin forest of Eastern Hemlock (Tsuga canadensis), Rickett's Glen State Park, Pennsylvania, USA. Many trees have been infected with the Hemlock Wooly Adelgid, a sucking pest that weakens and eventually kills the trees. Scientists are studying this forest to curtail the pest's effects and blue tags indicate study trees. Some trees in this forest are more than 500 years old.
