The surgical removal of the vermiform appendix..Inflammation of the appendix usually affects younger people. The chief symptom is abdominal pain which is at first, to the centre and as it continues, to the lower right of the abdomen. If not treated by surgery (appendectomy) the condition  usually progresses to cause an abscess or generalized peritonitis.
